History Timeline
Today, the Florentiades family co own and operate the Sandy Beach Hotel in Larnaca, the Venus Beach Hotel in Paphos and the Sunrise Village Kalamata in South West Peloponnese. The company owns and lets real estate units in Limasol and Nicosia. More recently the Florentiades family is currently building a new state of the art residential property comprising of 30 units in Aglatzia, Nicosia.
This timeline outlines the growth and development of the company and the significant projects undertaken over the years.
Spyros Florentiades, the founder of the company, is born.
At the age of 16, Spyros Florentiades is involved in the national struggle for Cyprus’s independence from British colonization.
Spyros Florentiades attends Battersea Polytechnic in the UK and completes his studies as a civil engineer.
Return to Cyprus: Spyros Florentiades joins his father’s business, which includes a road construction company, real estate and investments in quarry mining.
Spyros marries his first wife, Andri Lordos, who comes from a construction and real estate background. Establishment of own construction company: Spyros Florentiades starts his own construction company after his marriage.
The company builds 3 high-rise buildings in Nicosia and sells numerous residential and commercial properties.
Ventures into the hotel construction and hotel operation business. Completion of the Venus Beach Hotel and Anchor Beach Hotel in Famagusta. Commencement of the Castle Beach Hotel & Apartments project in Kyrenia.
The devastating events of the Turkish invasion in July 1974 and complete destruction of the company. Spyros Florentiades relocates his family to London. All the company’s hotels remain still in the occupied North part of Cyprus.
Spyros returns to Cyprus and partners with his brothers-in-law in construction and development projects in Limassol and Nicosia.
Construction of the Castle Beach Hotel in Limassol.
Expansion to Greece – Spyros Florentiades starts a construction and development company in Athens selling residential properties.
Construction of the Sandy Beach Hotel in Larnaca.
Completion of the Venus Beach Hotel in Paphos.
Purchase of a large beach front property in Petalidi, Peloponnese Greece, leading to the construction of the Sunrise Village Kalamata comprising of 250 rooms.
